With 29 years of experience in the industry, musician, engineer, and producer Troy Barnett is absolutely about all things music. As an alumnus of Kashmere High School, he was blessed to study under the legendary Sir William Portis – Band Director. This is when his obsession with music began.  After graduating High school, he continued to study and perfected his craft under Prof. Howard Harris at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas.  Prof. Harris served as band director and an educator for many years and is the one to whom the accomplished performer gives credit for shaping him into the skilled musician he is today.

Phat Barz Records has been proudly serving artists in the music industry for nearly 30 years, boasting an extensive portfolio including collaborations with talented artists in almost every music genre and continuously striving to raise the bar.

Troy Barnett has had the pleasure of working with a long list of recording artists, including James “Boogaloo” Bolden of B.B. King's Blues Band, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Elijah Baker of Tony! Troy Barnett's latest single, released in March 2024, “Old Dusty Road”, was written and produced as a solo project inspired by fond family memories and the peaceful happiness of his childhood in rural Texas. It's a tribute to the people and experiences that have influenced his life. More than an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, but a gifted singer/songwriter as well, he delivers a soul-stirring performance on "Old Dusty Road”, which is now streaming on all digital music platforms.
